Religious Education

St. Gabriel’s is a Catholic community endeavouring to meet the spiritual needs of the growing child; and our Religious Education program is designed to develop Catholic traditions and the faith of each child.

Our Religious Education program is a central component of our curriculum, assisting parents in passing on the faith tradition of the Catholic Church and encourages children to recognise and develop their special strengths and talents.

Each child is instructed in Prayer, Scripture, Sacramental Education, Religious Knowledge, Morals and Church Tradition. Parents are encouraged to be fully involved in the Religious Education programs including liturgical celebrations. A school based Mass is celebrated each Thursday at 9.30 am and parents are encouraged to attend.
Students are encouraged to recognise their responsibility in caring for others and creating a more just society through the support of aid organisations and initiatives such as:

  • Project Compassion - Caritas
  • Catholic Mission.
  • Samaritan’s Purse
  • St. Vincent de Paul Initiatives
  • Supporting global initiatives e.g. Bor Orphanage Project, Sudan

Our School sponsors a child in the Philippines through The St Vincent de Paul Society with whom the children regularly correspond. Students have the opportunity to visit the elderly of our community, through our O'Mara House program.

The Family Life program based on Christian values is presented in the Parish every second year. It aims to promote the worth and dignity of each child, the expression of love and the development of healthy relationships.
