Special Achievements: Archer Riess & Sierra Colantuono
Congratulations to Archer Riess from Year 3 and Sierra Colantuono from Year 6 who were selected for Football Victoria's Skill Acquisition Program.
Football Victoria conducted trials for over 600 players across Victoria, to identify and develop talented players.
Selected players from various regional areas come together to train and play at centralised camps held at the Darebin International Sports Centre during the school holidays. The camps involve training and Gala Day matches against metropolitan teams. Well done to Archer and Sierra! (See photo Attached )
Basketball - Hooptime Competition
On Friday 5th August St Gabriel’s will enter a boys and a girls team in the Traralgon District Basketball Hoop time competition to be held at the Traralgon Basketball stadium. The competition is for students from Years 5 and 6. There are currently around 30 boys and 30 girls training to make the team. The boys are currently training on a Wednesday at lunch time in the school stadium and the girls are training on a Friday at lunch time. I would like to thank Troy Adams and Leisl Sexton for coaching the teams on the day and assisting with the training prior to the event.
AFL football Clinic
During the last week of term 2 all the students at St Gabriel’s were involved in an AFL football clinic. Students were taught by AFL Development officer Rory Harrington. Rory taught the students the important skills of the game of kicking, marking, handballing and bouncing the football. Rory said the students were very attentive and were a joy to teach. Please see photos attached of the AFL clinic.
